I can actually relate to this. It's one of the reasons why I find it difficult to talk to her. I prefer confiding in my best friend even when she doesn't know what to do about whatever issue I have. At least I know she has my back. My mom has hit me so many times all in the name of correction. It's normal for parents to try to correct us but not to the extent where we become distant. I still haven't had the period talk with her. She obviously didn't know she had to tell me about periods. Thank goodness I was 14
