Hey girl,

Well, it really is true. Believing in yourself is key. Ever since I started thinking more positively, good things have been happening. Especially since I decided to start a cupcake business.

At the beginning, my idea sounded so easy to achieve. But the truth is starting a business is not easy at all.

There are so many things to consider. And that’s because things can go wrong. But don’t focus on the bad things. Rather remind yourself that no matter what happens, you are strong and can bounce back anytime.

To bring my cupcake business to life I knew I had to address somethings. My first step was to decide where to sell my cakes. Since I couldn’t afford a shop I figured selling in another vendor’s shop will be a good way to start.

So, I approached the drink seller in our local market. I asked if I could sell my cupcakes at her shop. Surprisingly, she said yes. I was so excited. I was one step closer to independence.


Then something happened. On my way home from buying the ingredients, the motorcycle I was on lost its balance. Before my eyes, the ingredients fell on the floor. I was devastated! I had promised the drink seller that I would bring her cakes the next day. Now I had no ingredients and no money to buy any more. I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to give up. Why did life have to be so hard?

As I was standing there looking at my dreams of independence scattered on the floor I heard my grandma’s voice in my head. “A negative mind won’t give you a positive life.” I shook off the negativity and starting telling myself everything will work out OK. At that moment, I chose not to give up.


That experience has taught me that the journey to independence isn’t a straight road. There will be ups and downs but the important thing is to keep moving.
