Puberty. It’s exciting for some of us. But for others, it can be pretty confusing. With each day comes a new question. From ‘why am I so sad?’ to ‘what’s happening down there?’ If you’ve ever felt this way, there’s no need to worry. You’re perfectly normal.
Here are some things to expect as your body changes:
Mood Swings
During puberty, your ovaries begin to produce a hormone called estrogen. This makes your mood go up and down. One minute you’re happy, the next you’re sad or angry. Your emotions are all over the place.
Getting plenty of rest, sleep and exercise can help you feel better. Eating fruits, vegetable and nuts will keep you healthier. Drinking enough water helps too.
Increase in Height and Weight
After your period starts, you’ll grow about two or three inches over the next few years. This is known as a growth spurt. Your hips will grow wider. Your arms, thighs and upper back will grow thicker. Don’t panic. It’s natural for us to have a certain amount of body fat. Maintain a balanced diet and you’ll be fine.
Sweating
Sweaty pubic hair, armpits and feet. Another thing that happens as your hormones increase. So when you bath, wash those sensitive areas carefully. Use an antiperspirant or homemade deodorant to prevent body odour.
Physical Attraction
You know that annoying boy next door? He’s not so annoying anymore, right? Maybe you have a crush on him. Maybe you’ve started thinking about sex. To top it off, there’s this weird feeling down there. There’s no need to feel guilty or ashamed. It’s a normal part of growing up.

Hey Agnes! Having different sized breasts is perfectly normal. It's quite common for girls to have this, especially when they start growing. No one has perfectly equal breast although some may not be obvious, if you check well in the mirror, you will see the difference. You are not the only one so do not be worried. We hope this helps

Hey Springster! Thanks for the comment. Sometimes, pimples are caused by the basic things we ignore around us. Wash your face at least twice a day but it should not be more than this frequency, keep your hands and nails as clean as possible by washing them regularly with soap and water. Avoid popping the pimple, stop touching your face, remove all the makeup from your face before going to sleep. Do not use cosmetics containing chemicals that will irritate the skin. Also, cut down on dairy and sugary foods. Eat more fiber, walnuts, fish and vegetables. Wash your pillowcases and bedsheet regularly and drink lots of water. We hope this helps.

In calculating your period/menstrual circle, note that the first day of your period is also the first day of your menstrual circle and the last day of your period is not the last day of your circle but the last day of your period. The duration/flow depends on the individual. The last day of your cycle is the day before your next period starts. For example, if your period started on the 1st of April and your next period starts on the 3rd of May, your cycle will be 2nd of May. This means that your cycle lasts for 31 days. Your new cycle starts again from the 1st day of your next period. Please note that your period can be delayed at sometimes and can also come earlier than normal. We hope this helps.

If you have a 30 day cycle, your ovulation date will fall on the 15th which is the middle of your cycle. So you need to know how long your menstrual cycle lasts. We hope this helps

It can start at the end of the month but as long as it lasts up to 28 or 30 days as the case may be with your menstrual cycle, that is all that matters. What you need to do is to track your period using a calendar to know how long your cycle is. Please note that menstrual cycles last from 21 -35 days depending on the individual. We hope this helps.

Hey Moreni! Thanks for the comment. When we say monthly cycle, what we mean is either 21 days or 35 days (depending on your cycle). It does not have to start on the 1st of the month and end on the last day. It can start at the end of the month but as long as it lasts up to 21 or 35 days as the case may be with your menstrual cycle, that is all that matters. What you need to do is to track your period using a calendar to know how long your cycle is. Please note that menstrual cycles last from 21 -35 days depending on the individual. So if someone's cycle is for 21-28 days, she is likely to see it twice a month sometimes (not all the time). The truth is that No Two Hymens Are Alike… The hymen is a tissue that’s filled with blood vessels that typically covers part of the vaginal opening. Some girls have a thick hymen or a hymen that covers a lot of the vaginal opening. Other girls have a very thin hymen or a hymen that covers very little of the vaginal opening. The whitish thing you see is called vaginal discharge and it is not just whitish, there are other colors and feels that occur at different times in your menstrual cycle. It could be clear, milky or stretchy depending on your cycle. The only time you should be worried about a discharge is if it green or yellow in colour, if its clumpy like cheese, if it has a bad odour, rashes, swelling or if it itches. Seeing a discharge does not necessarily mean that your period is coming soon. We hope this helps.

That's why we are advised not to wash our vulva 'cos a reduction in the production of the bacteria(healthy bacteria) responsible for cleansing would lead to a disease known as yeast infection.
