This 17-year-old girl won the Nobel Peace Prize!
Malala Yousafzai a 17- year old from Pakistan made history when she became the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize - a prize for people with outstanding works.
Malala was only 11 when she first started speaking out for girls’ right to education.
When she was 12 some men tried to assassinate her.
They wanted her to stop fighting for girls to get educated. But she didn’t and the experience however made her stronger, fearless and more determined.
When she received the prize she had the following to say
"This is really an encouragement for me to go forward and believe in myself. It is a good thing to know that there are people who support me. We are standing together."
"I am thankful to my father for not clipping my wings; for letting me fly and achieve my goals. For showing the world that a girl is not supposed to be 'the slave.”
Malala’s father Ziauddin Yousafzai said he hoped the award would help girls' rights everywhere.
Like Malala you can stand for something today. You can become an example for other young girls to follow.
People will try to scare you from following your dreams. They will try to make you feel like you are not meant to achieve big things.
Don’t let their actions hold you down.
Because girl you are much more than what they think. You are a super star
You can achieve whatever you want.
All you need is to believe in yourself, be determined and work towards it
Like Malala look for a trusted adult that can mentor you or guide you.
