Don’t do the journey alone
Hey girl,
I’ve been sharing my journey to Becoming Miss Independent. Not sure if you’ve seen my other stories? If you haven’t click on Becoming Miss Independent part 1 and Becoming Miss Independent part 2 to catch up.
Girls can you remember the setback I experienced the last time? Well, I decided not to let it make me give up. I believed in myself and thought positively about the outcome.
Rather than give up I did something unusual. I took a picture of all my ingredients on the floor. And then, I posted it on facebook with the caption “Need to bake 50 cupcakes by tomorrow but got no ingredients #pleasehelp”.
By the time I got home, I had received so many messages from friends and neighbours saying they had spare flour, butter, milk and sugar! How amazing?
Some of them even came over to my house to help me get everything ready for my big sale the next day.
Now that I think of it… what would I have done without my friends?
I used to think being independent meant you had to do everything on your own. That’s not true at all.
You see, the journey to becoming independent is a bumpy one. You need loving and supportive friends to be with you throughout the way. So, don’t ever feel like asking for help makes you a burden to other people. You’re not meant to go through life on your own!
As you start your journey to independence remember
1. Love and believe positive things about yourself.
2. Even when things get difficult… NEVER GIVE UP.
3. Don’t try and do everything on your own. Look to friends and family for support if you need it. That doesn’t mean you’re not independent.
In the end, I was able to get the cupcakes to the stall right on time for sale.. I made my first bit of money. It felt great.
Yes, it took me a while to get there, but I’ve learnt a lot about myself and what independence really means.

Hey Chloe101! Thanks for the comment. We are so happy that you are making moves and we are super proud of you! Starting a pancake business is a great idea! However you need to look for locations that will appreciate this business. This will include companies and schools. The good things is that you do not need a lot of capital apart from your essentials. You can choose to make it on the spot if you are allowed to or pack them in take away packs to sell. You can also try exploring different flavors. We are already excited because this sounds like a great business idea. However you need to be sure to get permission from the organisation before you start to market your product. We hope this helps

Hey Beep! Thanks for the comment. There is always an opportunity to try something new everyday but if you have your mind on certain things. You can try by writing a list of things you want to try out and then give yourself a timeline to accomplish those things. That is a good way to start. We hope this helps

I don't know how to start up my business....I acquired a skill I don't know how to advertise and make customers or maybe I haven't found the courage yet

Hey phellysia! Thanks for the comment. It is probably that you need the courage. Everyone is a potential customer so you should not wait until you find that one customer. Talk to your friends, family members, neighbors etc. Word of mouth still works in terms of marketing. Also, you should consider advertising on social media too. We hope this helps
