Itunu’s period drama

How quick thinking saved the day!

Itunu’s period drama

It was the D-day of our community’s concert and I was so excited. I was part of the drama group. And, I really couldn’t wait to show everyone my acting skills.

I was the mischievous and clever eagle who tricked the hunter and saved the animal kingdom.

An hour before I got on stage, I started getting a stomach ache.

I thought maybe it was stage fright that was setting in or maybe something I ate earlier.

Either ways, I told myself I had a show to do and wasn’t going to allow anything stop me.

Then the time came for me to get on the stage. And that’s when the real drama started. I had barely climbed the stage when I felt something warm coming down my legs.

Oh No… I thought to myself. I had started my period. I was confused on what to do next. To make matters worse, I was wearing a very tight costume.

I needed to come up with a plan if I didn’t want the whole community to see my period

And so, when the time came for me to perform my role I decided to do the opposite.

Instead of flying over the hunter and freeing the animals, I decided to jump into his big cooking pot and distract him.

Although this wasn't part of the story, I shouted to my animal helpers from the pot. "Please carry me to the mountains. We must destroy the hunters cooking pot before he turns us into dinner!”

The other actors looked a little confused, but I caught the eye of my best friend Sarah and gave her a worried look.

She quickly called the animal helpers, and they all got me off stage in a second.

I told Sarah what had happened. She gave me a hug and told me not to worry at all, because periods are completely normal. She took me to the bathroom while telling the others to on with the show. She gave me a pad, and a scarf to wear over my stained outfit.

I grabbed my shell as I ran back on stage, and jumped into the final celebration dance.

Thanks to some quick thinking and the help of my best friend, I survived my period drama.

Your period can sometimes come when you are least prepared and that’s fine. But just like Itunu, all you need to do is find a way to take care of the situation quickly.

Remember, periods are normal and nothing to be ashamed of!
